o when are you going West next, Shilpa? "Well, I may be in the West for the India Day Parade in New York to be the Grand Marshall. It's an opportunity to celebrate being Indian and I'm looking forward to it because it's been going on for 29 years." We hear singer Jay Sean will be a guest at the parade with you, have you met him before? "I have met Jay. He's extremely talented. I hear they're expecting 60,000 people to show up and that's exciting."

Tell us about your experience on Big Brother UK? Was that your platform into the western world? "Totally. I have to give credit to Big Brother for rediscovering me. It was a good thing at the end of the day. I'm happy to have brought awareness to the issue of racism. I'm happy that people recognize me as someone who is not only Indian, but has made a name for herself in the global audience as well."

What did you think of the UK while you were there? "It must be really difficult to be discriminated against when living in a foreign country. When I got out of the Big Brother house, people received me with a lot of love and perceived me as someone with a great deal of patience and dignity, that's a compliment."

You had some controversy with Jade Goody at the Big Brother house with her racist remarks. Did you get to see her before she passed away? "Unfortunately, God bless her soul, she slipped into a coma the day I landed in London. I'm glad the air was cleared before she passed away and there were no ill feelings."


How was your return to India? "I've been working for the last 17 years now. I think the glamour always preceded the talent. It changed after Big Brother and I was internationally recognized, but I'm still the same person that I was, I haven't changed."

Do you keep in touch with Richard Gere after the controversy created when he kissed you on the cheek at an aids awareness event? "I was in Canada recently to present him with an award. I have a great deal of respect for him. I think that's one of the reasons I'm more well known in the West. Not a very good thing to be known for, but I've always believed you meet people for a reason, and through our work against AIDS discrimination and creating awareness, we were able to achieve what we set out to achieve."

Miss Pooja's 'Romantic Jatt'

Is Miss Pooja's next album, "Romantic Jatt", indicative of the kind of man she's looking for?  Well the Bhangra songstress hasn't spoken about how she picked the title of her album just yet, but she has left fans wondering if that's what she is searching for in a partner.  Aside from the title there is quite a bit of buzz around the album in general being that this is her next major project.  With all the hype around the Punjabi beauty, Bhangra listeners have high expectations from her.  Hopefully this album will showcase her talent.  
"Romantic Jatt", is set to be released on August 21st and Miss Pooja has teamed up with some of Urban Desi's and Bhangra's best to work on this project.  Rishi Rich, Tigerstyle, Kam Frantic, Aman Hayer, Punjabi Lab, Sunil Kalyan, & Tarli Digital have contributed to this production.   The album maintains the traditional Bhangra vibe through Miss Pooja's rich Punjabi vocals and at the same time does a great job of fusing in other genres of music.  An example of this is the song, "Romantic Jatt," which is a Bhangra track with a dancehall flavor.
Produced by Tigerstyle "Romantic Jatt" is the title track and features dancehall artist Roach Killa.  The song has been playlisted by the BBC Asian Network and has been receiving heavy rotation.

 Along with the new album there have been talks about a new look for Miss Pooja. All things Desi may be the hot new trend in the Western world, but in India it seems that the Indians are adding a few Western influences to the culture. This has been seen recently in parts of the language, movies and now seems to be moving into the fashion world. Designers have begun to take trends from Western fashion and incorporate them into their more ‘traditional’ styles.  Salwar Kameez started with designing pant suites and now even produces a three-quarter length trouser (Capri pants). We have also seen a difference in the saris found on the market and worn by our celebrity fashion icons. From movies to events, it seems that the sari is still a hit, but that designers are taking bigger risks in incorporating some western styles. Abhishek Bachchan's Next film with Ash

Oh my, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan and his beautiful wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are set to light up the silver screen once again in director of "Delhi Belly" Abhinay Deo's next movie.  Abhishek seems the most enthused to work on this project with the director.  He says, "Yes, I'm doing Abhinay Deo's film. I've always been impressed by his ads. And when I heard he was making feature films I was keen to work with him," says Abhishek who starred in the 2009 box office hit "Dehli-6".
But despite all the success, Abhishek Bachchan insists what matters the most to him is to enjoy working on a movie. "My first release last year was "Sarkar Raj." I went on to "Drona." I ended last year with "Dostana." Then came "Delhi 6." I had a wonderful time making all of them. I'm happy with the work I've done regardless of whether the film has been successful or not. The important thing is to enjoy the journey of making the film. Because that's all you finally take home. I look back on the year with fond memories."
Abhishek is also looking forward to working with his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, on a film inspired by "Abhimaan," a 70s musical drama in which both his parents starred. The movie will be directed by his friend Rajiv Menon.

"Rajiv is a very dear friend. He directed Aishwarya earlier in the Tamil film "Kandukondain Kandukondain." He approached us with a subject that isn't exactly a remake of "Abhimaan." But it's very similar. We've both approved and attached ourselves to the subject," said Abhishek.

BIOGRAPHY OF KAREENA KAPOOR

Kareena Kapoor was born on September 21, 1977 in Bombay India. Her father is Punjabi -speaking Randhi Kapoor and her mother is Sindhi-speaking Babita. Her older sister is Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor.
Kareena Kapoor was born into a family full of actors going all the way back to her paternal great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor and her grandfather Raj Kapoor. Kareena Kapoor's film debut was in 2000 "Refugee" debuting together with Amitabh Bachchan's son Abhishek. After "Refugee" she went on to star in 31 other Hindi films, and won four awards for her roles in "Refugee", "Chameli", "Dev", and "Omkara".

Navin Kundra's 'Mehbooba' Gets Remixed

Summer always brings us a variety of new music, and Urban Desi artist, Navin Kundra has brought us his single 'Mehbooba' .  The singer's popularity continues to rise and It seems like we just can't get enough of Navin and his funky track has caught the attention of many. Well he is now back with not one, but two different remixes for his song 'Mehbooba.'
The first remix has been done by Bharat Goel. The song has a less funky edge and more of a club vibe. Navin Kundra's song still keeps its original essence and the beat takes 'Mehbooba' to a new level. The second remix has been done by DJ Shadow and DJ Dev. This DJ duo has taken some of the hottest sounds on the market and added their flair to them to give us some great remixes. So how is their version of 'Mehbooba'? Shilpa Shetty Getting Hitched?

Is Shilpa Shetty getting hitched to Raj Kundra this autumn? Really? Well, not so fast!

The rumors started when Shilpa’s father, Surendra Shetty, applied to an Indian court to have his passport returned so that he would be able to travel abroad in the near future. Shilpa’s dad has not been able to leave India since his passport was taken away after charges he threatened a business associate regarding a deal with his famous daughter. According to the passport application, the wedding between the Bollywood beauty and the Britain based businessman would take place in the U.K. sometime between September and December this year.

Bollywood Film 'Kaminey' Promotes Safe Sex

Bollywood does something completely new and uses its talent to increase AIDS awareness in India. Rumor has it that the film "Kaminey," set to release August 14, features a new track that promotes safe sex.The innovative song is being written and composed by the director himself, leading film maker, Vishal Bharadwaj and is being sung by none other than "Chaiyya Chaiyya" singer, Sukhwinder Singh. Heartthrob Shahid Kapoor will be lip-syncing the song in the film as his character, Guddu.The buzz is that the video for the song focuses on the usage of condoms and is being filmed in a backdrop with red lighting. Shahid Kapoor's character will have a red ribbon around his neck, perhaps symbolic of the red AIDS awareness ribbon. Quite controversial for a film industry that finds kisses to be taboo!!The lyrics to the song include, "Bhawra aaya aayaa re, gun gun karta aayaa re ... Sensex India: Stock Market Today

Sensex crashes by 253.24 pts


Mumbai, Jul 10 (UNI) The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today crashed by 253.24 points to settle in red at 13,504.22 on heavy offloading in select stocks by foreign institutional investors (FII's) and mutual funds in view of weak global cues.
A sell-off in index heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL) triggered a sharp fall on the bourses in the last hour of trade.
Power, realty and capital goods stocks also dropped.
However, IT stocks held firm after IT bellwether Infosys Technologies raised the lower end of its annual forecast in dollar terms, a leading broker said.
The BSE 30-share Sensex touched below the 13,450 mark and the S&P CNX Nifty fell below the psychological 4,000 mark. The market breadth turned weak in contrast to a positive breadth earlier in the day. Weak global markets and lower US index futures dented sentiment.
The market pared gains after a firm opening triggered by better-than-expected Q1 results from Infosys before trading hours.
The Sensex slipped into the red after moving between positive and negative terrain in mid-morning trade. A bout of volatility was witnessed in early afternoon trade. The market surged in mid-afternoon after Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said the rise in industrial production in May 2009 is not a surprise and the worst is over for industrial output.

Rakhi Sawant to Look Like Aishwarya Rai

Rakhi Sawant is dreaming to have a wedding like Aishwarya Rai and wishesto become like Aishwarya Rai on her wedding day – the grand finale of Rakhi Ka Swyamwar.
Rakhi’s wedding attire is being designed by the same designer who designed Aishwarya’s wedding trousseau – Neeta Lulla and her jewelery designer is Zayed Khan’s famous jewellery designer sister Farah Khan.
Neeta says, “Rakhi told us she wants to look like a princess that day – something like she has never looked before. I have given her a very colourful ensemble – it’s a very conservative outfit.For her wedding day, Rakhi would be wearing a lehenga-choli in five different colours with ornate kundan work to give her an ethnic Rajasthani look.”
Farah says,”The choker that Rakhi will be wearing for her wedding day is very heavy. It looks very traditional and covers almost her entire neck.”

Rakhi Sawant has expressed her desire to look like a princess and have a ragnd wedding like that of Aishwarya Rai on her wedding at the grand finale of Rakhi Ka Swyamwar.
Neeta Lulla is designing her wedding lehenga and choli which will have a traditional Rajasthani look in five different colors but Neeta has refused to disclose the cost of the dress.
Neeta says, “Rakhi told us she wants to look like a princess that day – something like she has never looked before. I have given her a very colourful ensemble – it’s a very conservative outfit.For her wedding day, Rakhi would be wearing a lehenga-choli in five different colours with ornate kundan work to give her an ethnic Rajasthani look.”
Her necklace for the wedding will be designed by Zayed Khan’s famous jewellery designer sister Farah Khan and will cost around Rs. 30 lakhs.
Farah says,”The choker that Rakhi will be wearing for her wedding day is very heavy. It looks very traditional and covers almost her entire neck.”
Rakhi is all set to marry the winner of this reality show in which the contestants hail from Delhi, Mumbai, Rishikesh, Jaipur, Kanpur and Toronto.

Katrina Kaif's Sari Shrinks in Half at 'De Dana Dan' Movie Shoot

Katrina Kaif who recently criticized Kareena Kapoor for using her body to sell movie tickets was caught in a risqué moment herself. Okay, so it wasn't exactly her fault, still it was funny to hear that the serious actress was caught being a little sexy herself.
Katrina Kaif was working on a dance sequence for the movie 'De Dana Dan' when her full-length sari shrank in half during a rain scene. The chiffon sari created a rather sensual experience for all of those looking on. The long sari shrank to knee-length, revealing that, yes, Katrina Kaif does in fact have legs!
The director however was quick to recover Katrina Kaif's dignity. He did close-ups and mid-length shots of the modest actress instead of full length shots. Somehow this turned out to be better than the full length shots that were supposed to have taken place in the film.
The designer clothes don't usually shrink, but Katrina Kaif kept her cool despite the mess up from the costume department.

Bio Deta of Depika

Deepika Padukone was born on January 5th 1986 in Copenhagen Denmark. Her father is former Badminton Champion Prakash Padukone and her mother tongue is Konkani. Although her birthplace is Denmark she was brought up mostly in Bangalore, India. She has one sister named Anisha.
Deepika Padukone attended Sapphire High School and was a fairly good student. However her interests in extracurricular activities such as sports, singing and dancing outweighed her interests in Academics. She explains herself as a prankster in high school constantly goofing on her friends. She also says she acted like a tomboy and constantly spoke at the top of her voice. She also maintained a close relationship with her sister and her grandparents.
After finishing high school where she says she was a bit of a class clown, Deepika Padukone attended Mount Carmel College in Bangalore. After a brief stint in college she decided to travel to Mumbai to pursue a career in professional modeling.
Deepika Padukone developed a hereditary interest in Badminton, but in the end was drawn to glamour. During her career in modeling she has made appearances in advertisements for Liril, Close Up Toothpaste and Limca. She also modeled for Maybelline eventually becoming their new international Cover-girl face.
Deepika Padukone won Model of the Year award at the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards. Shortly after she made and appearing in their 2006 swimsuit calendar. She also went on to win two more awards at the Idea Zee F Awards including Female Model of The Year and Fresh Face of The Year.

Although she has now reached supermodel status, Deepika Padukone has returned to school, studying to get her graduates degree in social science through correspondence.

Katrina Kaif Opens Up About Salman Khan

It may be hard to believe but Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has known her boyfriend Salman Khan for six years, however, neither one has openly talked about their former relationship. Yet, while she is keeping mum on the actual relationship, she is opening up about Salman the man and how she knows him personally.

"He has been a wonderful person for the last six years I have known him. He has got a great soul and he is very fearless. He is not afraid of anything and he is not an insecure person. A lot of people live their lives with so much insecurity - fear of rejection, of losing things. But he doesn't fear. And he tries to teach me that," Katrina was quoted as saying.

She also revealed that Salman has a way of negating bad things in others and instead sees their positive side. She also added that Salman has been a guide for her in Bollywood and in life.
"For me, he has been a great teacher and a great guide. He has seen me grow up in the last six years. For 18 to 24 is a journey, especially for a young girl. At times, he says you are changing. And I say, I am changing because I am growing. He says, 'Be careful, don't change into something that is not good'," said Katrina.
So why is she willing to talk about all that but not their romantic relationship?
Well Katrina says she's too much of a sensitive person to make her private life public, thus she chooses not to talk about it.
